LOCATION: Dammam, Saudi Arabia Job Description REPORTS TO: Operational Planning Section Head KEY ROLE: Ensure system reliability during network operations and power exchanges through effective operational studies. Handle short term and medium term planning for performance optimization. Periodically update and validate Network Model to be used for Operational Studies. Perform operational planning studies for the combined system such as load flow, short circuit, transient and dynamic stability assessment studies Perform various engineering studies related to the performance of the system including HVDC during disturbances and critical events Analyze network performance and recommend plans for optimization of the network to ensure stability and security of the combined system through effective short and medium term system planning Analyse the impact of critical outages and determine required availability and reserves to ensure reliability and optimization of the combined system Analyse the impact of power exchanges across the interconnector Analyse the adequacy of the system dynamic and protection response Post analysis of major incidents, reproduction of the incident through simulation and recommendations to avoid future occurrence Calculate net transfer capacities (NTC) through system studies Determine impact of future plans on systems and the overall reliability of the transmission systems Provide Full report writing and technical study furnishings. Review new project Scope of Work and Technical Specification and provide feedback Review results of system studies done by Consultants or other departments and provide feedback Review consultant’s reports, provide feedback and ensure compliance with policies and procedures Review draft procedures and provide feedback for improvement Assist Senior OP Engineer to prepare Summer & Winter reports covering all aspects of operations to meet summer and winter demand requirements to enumerate the operating conditions/constraints, which need to be applied in these periods. Assist Senior OP Engineer to prepare contingency plan report incorporating the optimum system configuration and preventive/corrective actions and guidelines for real-time operation. Should be able to cover the essential duties of Operational Planning Engineer and Senior OP Engineer during their absence Adherence to the code of conduct KPIs Stability and security of the systems Feasibility of the plans Accuracy of the studies Qualifications EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS: Bachelor of Science with a specialization in Electrical Engineering Network operations and operational planning Familiar with software tools for power system analysis include PSS/E Power System Operation Experience Power System Studies Experience Power Transmission Experience 7 years of relevant experience Time Management Technology Integration Planning and Organization Managing Control Process Coordination- Getting Things Done Optimization of Future Capacity – Planning Ahead Monitoring and Taking Corrective Action Selecting, Designing and Developing New Solutions Attention to Detail
